Derby boy’s birthday tears of joy at getting dream PS5

This is the moment a Derby boy burst into tears of joy after finally landing his dream present on his birthday.

Isa Raza had been holding out hope that he would get a PlayStation 5, a highly sought after games console, for his tenth birthday on Monday, February 22..

His father, Kamran, has revealed he had sleepless nights and ‘unbelievable stress’ when trying to get hold of the device, Birmingham Live reports.

In the end he was left overjoyed by being able to get his hands on one at Argos, and made a 60-mile round trip to collect it for his son.

He added that scalpers, people who buy multiple consoles and re-sell them online for a huge profit, should be ashamed of themselves for making things so tough for other console lovers.

Kamran posted an emotional video, which can be seen above, showing the moment his son got the present.

In the footage, Isa can be seen bursting into tears as he unwraps the PS5, which he first believed was a box of Lego.

Even mum Maria and sister Yasmin can be seen weeping with joy.

Kamran said: “Like so many others, we tried to get a console for Christmas but they were like gold dust.

“I knew I had a narrow window to secure one before his birthday, so it’s been weeks of sleepless night and stress like i’ve never felt before.

“I am a support worker for adults with learning difficulties and my shift patterns are all over the place. I’d often be up until the early hours trying to get hold of a console.

“Every time there was a new stock drop of the PS5 they would sell out immediately because of the scalpers.

“It’s easy to see why people would be tempted to pay way over the odds for a console, they are widely available on eBay and places like that but it’s ridiculous money.”

Kamran, who has family in Birmingham, said he was desperate to get hold of a PS5 for his boy, who has ‘a heart of gold’ and ‘is the best son anyone could ask for’.

“He loves gaming. He’s into Fortnite and Rocket League. All through lockdown he has used his PlayStation 4 to keep in contact with his friends,” Kamran added.

“He was gutted at Christmas when he didn’t get the latest console so I was determined to get hold of one for his birthday.

“These things mean so much to kids. They have had their mental health knocked in lockdown, their lives have totally changed. They’re reliant on devices and consoles more than ever to keep them in touch with their mates.

“Last week, I found out via Discord that Argos would be dropping new PS5 stock, so I waited up until 3.30am to try and get hold of one. Isa was determined to sit with me all night.

“When I finally got one, and the payment went through, I wanted to scream it from the roof top but he was sat right there and I wanted to keep it as a surprise.

“That was so tough. It was overwhelming but I was so relieved that the stress and panic was over.

“Seeing how happy and emotional he was on his birthday really made it all worthwhile.

“There must be people out there – true gamers – whose consoles might be their lifeline. Scalpers need to stop buying up the stock only to put them on eBay, they are expensive enough without the additional mark up.

“I’ve never felt stress like it and i’m so glad I can finally sleep again.”
