A man has been named and charged over an allegation of rape in Derby.
Shamseldin Eisa is accused of raping a woman over the age of 16 on December 27, 2018.
The 43-year-old appeared at Derby Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 7, for a first hearing over the allegation.
Speaking through an interpreter, he confirmed his name and age to the court, and confirmed his address as being Church Street, in Normanton.
No plea was entered and the case was immediately sent up to Derby Crown Court.
Eisa was granted unconditional bail ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Derby Crown Court on June 4, this year.
Court documents state he has been charged with rape of a woman 16 years of age or over under the Sexual Offences Act of 2003.
The anonymity of the complainant has been protected under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992, which grants automatic lifetime anonymity to people alleged to be the victims of sexual offences.
