Lidl’s new supermarket in Raynesway, Alvaston has opened to the public for the first time today.
Located opposite the Blue Jay pub and McDonald’s, the store has created around 40 new jobs for the local community.
It is over 1,200m² in size, about the size of five tennis courts, and has an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.
The store will welcome shoppers between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Dominic Bryan, said he was excited about the opening of the new shop.
“We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Alvaston,” he said.
“It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”
Derby City Councillor Alan Graves claimed the new Lidl could provide significant benefits for the local community.
“We believe it will be a good addition to Alvaston and may help boost trade for everyone,” he posted on Facebook.
