Five apartments could be built just off one of Derby’s busiest roads.
Wilson Architects is asking Derby City Council for permission to build a block of flats on the corner of Rowditch Avenue and Uttoxeter New Road, in California.
Under the plans, the applicant would construct five one-bedroom dwellings in the rear garden of an address in Uttoxeter New Road, opposite an entrance to The Bemrose School.
Access to the site would be gained from Rowditch Avenue, with an existing concrete garage being demolished and foliage in the garden being cleared to make space for the building.
The site, which currently has one parking space, will have provision for parking to be expanded, giving the new flats four spaces which back onto Rowditch Avenue.
Illustrative images of what the flats could look like indicate the ground floor and first floor would have two apartments each, with the top floor being occupied by a single dwelling.

These images indicate that all the flats would have open plan living room, dining room and kitchens, as well as en-suite shower rooms with each bedroom.
The existing property at Uttoxeter New Road would be left standing. Derby City Council has set a target date of November 20, for a decision to be made on the plans.
