It’s fair to say that Valentines Day this year will be very different for couples across the country.
The UK was put into a third national lockdown after Christmas, meaning that many of the businesses who would usually be seeing a surge of bookings will have to remain closed to the general public.
That means an occasion that usually means a romantic night out, will have to move entirely indoors.
Don’t worry, though, the eateries of Chesterfield are still here so you can treat your partner to a perfect meal for two and score some precious brownie points in the process.
All the below venues are offering either delicious takeaway dishes or menus you can prepare at home.
The Bulls Head
The Holymoorside pub is putting on not one, but two special menus available for collection. Bookings to be made before February 10.
The first is a £30 per couple takeaway, prepared for you in their kitchen. Featuring dishes such as 72-hour braised short rib / beef or a luxury fish pie.
The second is a cook at home menu for £80 per couple, complete with ingredients and step-by-step instructions. Dishes include Périgord winter truffle and Walton Lodge Beef Wellington.
Maison Mes Amis
Chesterfield’s favourite French restaurant isn’t just spreading the love for one day.
Their new “date night” menu is available from February 4.
Dishes include prawn, coriander, chilli and lemon grass croquettes to start, cheese fondue to share and slow braised beef as mains and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
Lombardi’s Ristorante Italiano
A staple of the town’s restaurant scene for nearly two decades, Lombardi’s is dishing up its usual menu, with a few extra special romantic treats.
On top of the usual Italian specials, there’s ravioli, paccheri al filetto, a choice of two beef dishes, salmon toscano and a selection of handmade desserts.
Bookings are available now, but are very limited.
The Tickled Trout
The award-winning team over at Derbyshire’s best named pub have together created a menu to make your evening extra special.
For £35 per person couples will receive hot ‘n’ cured salmon, Derbyshire Beef Wellington and apple tarte tatin, complete with instructions to easily finish off at home.
Orders must be placed by noon on February 12.
If you’re looking to ‘spice’ up your Valentines Day with something a little different, why not try Indian and Bangladeshi fusion cuisine from Delhi 41?
They’re offering a three-course meal for just £14.95 per person, including a choice of starters such as onion bhaji or a spicy fish cake, mains including garlic chilli chicken and special mixed Balti, as well any choice of rice or naan bread.
This offer is only available on the day so you’ll have to be quick to place your order.
